Pre-Match Thoughts - Swindon Town

In a game against a team like Swindon, I'd generally back us to get a good result. However, they've made a number of signings in the past couple of weeks, so they're an unknown quantity at the moment. Also, we never know if we're going to see the good Posh, or the bad Posh turn up, so your guess is as good as mine, to be honest.

Swindon:

With Swindon currently sitting in 18th, you'd probably expect Posh to get a result, but Swindon are unbeaten in 3 matches, and have made considerable changes to their team. They have lost their most influential midfielder in Michael Doughty, who has returned to his parent club QPR. However they did bring Ben Gladwin back for another spell at the club, on loan from Ian Holloway's team. They've also added three Chelsea youngsters to their ranks, with defender Fankaty Dabo, midfielder Charlie Colkett and forward Islam Feruz all joining on loan.

In their last match, they went to Bolton and picked up a 2-1 win. Not many teams will come away from the Macron Stadium with three points this season, that's for sure. They'll also be well aware of Posh's previous result - that embarrassing 5-1 loss at relegation candidates, Bury. I think it's safe to say that, with home advantage, Luke Williams/Tim Sherwood's team will be confident they can claim all three points on Saturday afternoon.

Posh:

Grant McCann described Posh's performance at Bury as 'embarrassing', and labelled it the lowest point of his managerial career so far. He will be demanding a reaction, as will a certain Mr MacAnthony... I think it's clear to see that we need to make changes to the lineup - Marcus Maddison needs to start, as he was the best of a bad bunch at Gigg Lane last week. I'd also be considering my forward options. We have Junior Morias, Tom Nichols and Lee Angol in competition for those places at the moment, so McCann has a big decision to make regarding who gets the nod on Saturday. Personally, I'd go with Morias and Angol - they had a good partnership at Boreham Wood when they played there together, and Angol offers us something different. With Angol up front, we have an out ball, someone we can punt the ball to, to relieve the pressure that we'll find ourselves under at times in the match. Tom Nichols may have scored a couple of goals in the last two games, but in an away game against a side with big physical defenders, Morias and Angol seems the obvious choice to me.

So overall, I'm expecting a reaction from Posh. And, if they produce the football we all know they're capable of, I'd also expect a victory.

Prediction: Swindon 1-2 Posh
